Division of Forestry

KEWS provides the Division of Forestry radio links to each of their 47 radio base stations divided among nine district offices. These radio links provide emergency and non-emergency communications.

The Division of Forestry is responsible for the protection of the commonwealth’s forest from destructive wildfires. The KEWS system helps provide communications for wild fire detection, suppression and law enforcement. The district offices in the state carry out this protection system.  During fire emergencies, the division utilizes the Department of Corrections crews and Kentucky National Guard personnel and equipment.
