Services
The Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS) is a highly survivable and redundant Public Safety microwave communications system carrying radio control, data, video, and voice traffic for government agencies. KEWS integrates the functions of several state agencies for use by state officials in emergency situations that require inter-agency communication and coordination.
Today, KEWS serves not only the agencies for which it was specifically designed, Kentucky Educational Television (KET), Kentucky State Police (KSP), Kentucky Department for Military Affairs/Kentucky Emergency Managment, and the National Weather Service (NOAA), but also those agencies of Kentucky State Government whose communication requirements can be met most cost effectively by use of the system. Such agencies include:
- Division of Forestry
- Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources
- Department of Transportation
- Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparaedness Program (CSEPP)
- Intergerated Flood Level Observation and Warning System (IFLOWS)
