Kentucky Information Highway (KIH)
The Kentucky Information Highway (KIH) is a data network that is also maintained by the KEWS technicians.
One of our customers is the Kentucky Department of Education. COT provides single point-to-point T1’s, (which provides a data rate of 1536Kbps) to each school district in the Commonwealth. In most cases there are multiple T1's (2 to 4) which increases their bandwidth two to four times. Each of these T1 circuits terminate to the education servers located at Cold Harbor in Frankfort.
Other agencies include the Department of Transportation, Circuit Clerk and County Clerk offices throughout the state. The KIH network provides connection for the new Digital Drivers License (DDL) camera equipment for making the new driver’s license’s. KIH also provides connection to information for renewing driver’s license, transferring titles, and paying taxes. The Kentucky State Police utilize the link system for running tags, wants and warrants, as well as the AFIS system for digital finger printing.
The Cabinet for Families and Children, County Attorneys, Property Evaluation PVA, Tourism Development Cabinet (State Parks), Corrections, Juvenal Justice, Probation and Parole, County Health Departments, Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, are just a few of the customers that we provide technical support for, as well as repair service (if their equipment is hit by lightning or fails to operate normally).
We provide a variety of different connections and data rates (see below) to the majority of State Agencies in Kentucky.
