Field Services
The Field Services branch is responsible for the installation, repair, and 24/7, 365 days per year monitoring of two statewide communications networks:
- The Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS) provides network interconnectivity for the State of Kentucky (see Services in the left-hand navigation).
- The Kentucky Information Highway (KIH) provides Voice and High Speed Data.
With their headquarters located in Frankfort on the Daniel Boone National Guard Center, Field Services has 21 field technicians with two district offices located in London/Somerset and Bowling Green.
Kentucky's Information Highway is a statewide telecommunications and information network developed by Kentucky state government in partnership with the state's local telephone companies. This public-private partnership is laying the foundation for the Kentucky Information Highway.
The statewide network, with an "access ramp" in every one of Kentucky's 120 counties offering services for e-mail, world-wide web access, and state wide networks such as drivers license renewal system. KEWS Field Service Technicians install routers and CSU/DSU's at the site, while the local phone company installs a data line at COT's request and direction.
